Tennessee Public Time Frames


Step 1: Bond Claim
  • Non-highway projects: Serve Contractor or the Public Official within 90 days after last furnishing.
  • State Highway projects:  May serve claim within 30 day period of Notice of Completion filing or publication.  Not required to have rights under the bond.

Step 2: Suit Against Bond
  • Non-highway projects: Within 6 months of last furnishing.
  • State Highway projects:  Within 60 days of the last published notice.

Bond Bits

  • Contracts less then $100,000 are excluded from bond requirements.
  • 25% of the contract price on all contracts in excess of $100,000.
