- Subcontractors and materialmen must notify the prime or general contractor of their right to claim a lien within 60 days after date of first furnishing, but only when the value of the prime or general contractor's contract is valued at $50,000.00 or more. This notice requirement also only applies in instances when both the owner and prime or general contractor have fulfilled their legal notice requirements in project specifications and at the construction site, respectively.
