Direct to Lien States

The following are direct to lien states. No notice prior to lien is required. However NACM suggests serving notice 45 days prior to last furnishing to prompt payment.
Connecticut     Maine (Commercial)
Delaware     Montana (Private, Commercial)
District of Columbia     Nebraska (Commercial)
Hawaii     New Jersey (Commercial)
Idaho (Commercial)   New York (Private)
Indiana (Commercial)   Rhode Island (Excludes prime contractor)
Kansas (Commercial)   Vermont
Failure to serve notices in other states including Alabama and Alaska may not entirely defeat lien rights. A review of the circumstances of each case is required.
