Step 1: Bond Claim
  • Notice to the general contractor and surety within 90 days after the last date on which claimant provided labor/materials.

Step 2: Suit Against Bond
  • Within 1 year after the last date on which claimant provided labor/materials.

Bond Bits

  • Amount of Bond: 100% of contract price. However, the chief procurement officer or head of the procuring agency can reduce the amount of the bond to 50% of the amount of the prime contract if it determines it is in the state's best interest.
  • Contracts less than $25,000 are excluded from bond requirements.
