Step 1: Bond Claim
  • Get copy of bond.  No statutory notice requirements exist, but courts will uphold notice requirements included within the bond.

Step 2: Suit Against Bond
  • Within 10 years, with the exception of certain municipal, including St. Louis and Kansas City, where a suit must be brought within 90 days from date of contract completion.

Bond Bits

  • Contracts less then $25,000 are excluded from bond requirements.
  • Amount of Bond: No provision except county building, 110% of the contract.
