Maine Public Time Frames

Step 1: Bond Claim

Serve notice of a claim on the contractor by certified or registered mail within 90 days of last performance or supply. Notice is not required when contracting with the prinicpal (prime contractor).

Step 2: Suit Against Bond

After 90 days, but within 1 year, of final acceptance of the general contract.

Bond Bits

Contracts less then $125,000 are excluded from bond requirements
Bond value: Bonds must be equal to 100% of the contract
