Mississippi Public Time Frames

Step 1: Bond Claim

Serve prime contractor within 90 days of last furnishing. No notice is required when contracting directly with the principal (prime contractor).

Step 2: Suit Against Bond

Within 1 year after the performance and final settlement of the contract. Time frames may be extended under certain circumstances.

Bond Bits

All Sureties must be listed on the Treasury Department's list of acceptable sureties.
Prime contracts less than $25,000 may be excluded for bonding requirements.
Amount of Bond: 100% of contract price.
P3 legislation requires payment bonds.
